Wireless AP (Access Point): refers to wireless access point, which is used for wireless switch of wireless network and is also the core of wireless network. Wireless AP is the access point for mobile computer users to access wired networks, mainly used in broadband homes, buildings and parks, and can cover tens of meters to hundreds of meters. Wireless AP (also called session point or access bridge) is a very broad name. It includes not only simple wireless access point (wireless AP), but also wireless router (including wireless gateway, wireless bridge) and other devices.

Wireless AP can generally be divided into fat AP and thin AP, which are not distinguished from the outside, but from their working principles and functions. Of course, some fat and thin APs can be distinguished in appearance. For example, the ones with WAN ports must be fat APs. In addition to the wireless access function mentioned above, fat AP generally also has WAN and LAN ports, and supports DHCP server, DNS and MAC address cloning, firewall and other security functions. Fat AP usually has its own complete operating system, which is a network device that can work independently and can realize dialing, routing and other functions. A typical example is wireless router.

Thin AP, the image understanding is to slim down the fat AP, remove the routing, DNS, DHCP server and many other loaded functions, and only retain the wireless access part. The AP we often say refers to this kind of thin AP, which is equivalent to a wireless switch or hub and only provides a wired/wireless signal conversion and wireless signal reception/transmission function. As a component of wireless LAN, thin AP cannot work independently. It must cooperate with AC management to become a complete system.

Fat AP can be configured independently. It has WAN and LAN ports, supports DHCP server, DNS and MAC address cloning, VPN access and firewall. All network parameter settings of the thin AP are configured in the AC controller. The AP is powered by the standard poe industrial switch (poe power supply), and the wireless AP is plug-and-play. The fat AP needs to log in to the IP management address to modify the existing wireless encryption method, so that the IP address of the management AP is in the same network segment as the local area network that the AP will access.

If the LAN has multiple wireless APs, ensure that the IP address of each AP does not conflict. For example, the IP address of the first AP is 192.168.1.254, and the IP address of the second AP can be changed to 192.168.1.253. After modification, add a new wireless network, set a new wireless SSID and password, and each wireless AP can be set the same to facilitate automatic roaming and switching of wireless WiFi. The fat FAT mode of wireless AP is basically set, and the wireless terminal can connect to the Internet after searching the signal of the corresponding AP.

Step 1: The computer establishes a connection with the AP through wireless or wired. The local connection IP of the computer is set to 192.168.1. X (X=2-253). The rest are default.

Step 2: Enter 192.168.1.254 (AP login address) in the browser. It is recommended to use the computer's own IE browser. The operation interface mainly includes user name setting and wireless password setting. Confirm the setting completion point.

It should be noted that when the network cable is wired, the core will usually distribute the work. One party is responsible for sending data and the other party is responsible for receiving data. The poe power supply system needs 4 cores for receiving and sending, and 4 cores for power supply. Therefore, the poe power supply must select 8-core network cable.
