Industrial poe switches have become
very useful power supply devices in our daily lives, and there are too
many network devices that require them, such as surveillance cameras,
wireless APs, etc., to achieve synchronous transmission of data and
power through network cables. However, there are various types of
industrial PoE switches on the market, and after using them for a period
of time, it is inevitable to encounter various problems, which is
related to the quality of the product.
Some fake PoE switches on
the market, in order to save costs, do not add PoE chips and directly
force 24/48V DC power (or claim SPoE) to the spare pins of the network
port, without short circuit protection circuits. There are also MCU PoE
switches using 8051 microcontrollers, which are all fake POE switches.
Therefore, during use, the following issues and risks may arise:
1.
Without PoE detection function, it will not detect whether the device
supports PoE power supply when connected to a network device, and will
directly perform forced power supply. When the connected device does not
support PoE power supply, such as computers, routers, etc., there is a
high probability of burning out the device during connection, which can
even lead to a fire risk! Even if it is connected in the early stage, it
may burn out when connecting to other devices that do not support PoE
during maintenance or without the knowledge of others.
2. Design
of no power overload protection and priority power supply protection.
Through overload testing of a certain brand of PoE switch, the problem
and risk display are more obvious: after the power exceeds, the machine
continuously restarts, all ports cannot be powered on, and all images
are lost, or when the camera is fully loaded, it is not overloaded
during the day, but overloaded after turning on infrared at night, and
all images are lost, which greatly affects the monitoring of key areas.
3.
Without lightning protection design, it is easy to be damaged by
induced lightning strikes, and the product maintenance cost is high.
4.
The power supply does not have national mandatory 3C and safety
certification. Power supply is a high-voltage device, and safety is very
important. Some manufacturers, in order to save costs and eliminate
some safety devices, cannot pass the national 3C certification. This
type of product poses significant safety hazards when used in
engineering, and in severe cases, it can also cause fires!
How
should we identify inferior industrial PoE switches in response to the
above issues? In general, only high-quality industrial PoE switches can
provide stable power supply, while low-quality industrial PoE switches
face various tests. How can poor quality PoE switches be distinguished?
There are generally three situations:
1. Production identification
A
good PoE switch should include the following information:
manufacturer's name, company name, trademark, or other identification
mark. In addition, there are clear model codes, model specifications,
power supply standards, and total PoE power supply power. The
identification of low-quality industrial PoE switches may not be too
clear.
2. Full load test
When fully
loaded with surveillance cameras, it is a time to test the "truth" of
industrial grade PoE switches. Some industrial PoE switches claim to be
able to provide full load power, but once fully loaded, there may be
crashes, unclear graphics, and other phenomena. The above situation
occurs because the PoE switch has insufficient power supply and cannot
fully power the receiving equipment. So only by using high-quality power
supplies and other components, and undergoing full load testing, is the
most "safe" PoE switch.
3. Heat dissipation design
One
of the functions of industrial grade PoE switches is power supply.
During this process, a portion of the electrical energy needs to be
consumed due to losses. After the electrical energy is converted into
thermal energy, some of it is lost in the air, while the other part is
absorbed by itself, causing the temperature of the equipment to rise. In
fact, it is a common phenomenon for industrial PoE switches to generate
heat during normal operation, so whether they can effectively dissipate
heat is related to whether the equipment can operate stably for a long
time. If the heat dissipation is not good, it will shorten the product's
service life and cause a decrease in safety performance.
The
heat dissipation design and components used in the production of
industrial grade PoE switches are very important. High quality
industrial PoE switches have side waist shaped heat dissipation holes
and metal shell design, ensuring efficient heat dissipation and
long-term stable operation of industrial PoE switch products.
Our
industrial POE switch series products not only provide excellent
industrial grade quality such as vibration resistance, high/low
temperature resistance, dust prevention, lightning protection, etc.
through fanless heat dissipation circuit design, wide range working
environment temperature, and high protection level technology; Moreover,
it integrates various rich protocols such as routing, switching, and
security, while supporting Public Ethernet Multi Ring Protection
Technology (ERPS), greatly improving networking flexibility and
enhancing the reliability and security of industrial networks.
